Crewelwork Embroidery of a Sleeping Red Fox Among Bluebells in a Hoop

A hand-embroidered crewelwork panel of a red fox curled up asleep, stitched on natural cream linen and stretched in a round light wooden embroidery hoop with a brass tightening screw at the top. The fox lies in the center with its eyes closed and its bushy tail wrapped around its body, its fur worked in long-and-short stitch in rust, copper, cream, and dark brown wool so the raised threads follow the direction of the fur. Around it, a wreath of woodland plants: satin-stitch bluebells arching over the upper left, clusters of pale blue French-knot forget-me-nots scattered across the top and sides, sage-green fern fronds in fishbone and stem stitch on both sides, and two pairs of textured acorns with oak leaves along the bottom. Soft even daylight shows the thread texture and slight shine of the wool. Top-down photo, the hoop centered in the frame with plain linen fabric visible around it, wide landscape 16:9. Cozy, handmade, storybook mood. No text, no hands, no needles.
